Obopay, a service that let’s you send and receive money through your cell phone, has just partnered with AOL’s AIM network. So that means you can now IM money to your buddies. Now is that cool or not ?
Obopay is already available on any mobile phone but through this partnership, AOL’s already large AIM community will now be able to get, send and receive money not only in a matter of seconds, but also in a manor that keeps up with the fast pace environment of the IM community. With AIM users already multi-tasking wherever they are it makes sense to have a partnership that allows you to bring your wallet into the world of instant messaging.
Obopay, the first comprehensive mobile payment service in the U.S., today announced the availability of a new AIM Obopay plugin for users of AOL’s AIM service, the largest instant messaging community in the U.S. This new plugin allows eligible[1] AIM users to launch Obopay and use it to make payments directly from the AIM Buddy List feature. Users can sign up for Obopay and download the free AIM Obopay plugin at www.obopay.com/aim.
“Our busy, on-the-go users have quickly grown accustomed to being able to use their mobile phones to instantly and effortlessly send money to others anytime, anywhere in the U.S.,” said Obopay CEO Carol L. Realini. “With the new AIM Obopay plugin, we make it even easier by allowing AIM desktop users to send money directly from their AIM Buddy List to another AIM user’s cell phone.”
