Ferrari Luggage by Schedoni

Sports cars and traveling with luggage don’t usually go together, and for good reason. It’s a hassle (if not impossible) to fit any kind of baggage into most cars that are designed for performance and style at the expense of storage. But that’s not an issue for Ferrari owners, and hasn’t been since 1977 when Schedoni became the official supplier of made-to-measure leather luggage for Ferrari. The history of how the fitted luggage sets came to be for Ferrari by the Schedoni family is a long one, dating all the way back to 1880 and filled with family tradition.

Oh the perks of being a Ferrari owner!

Poodle Butts by J Schatz

Filed under:

Behold the Poodle Butt. That is all it is - a glossy pink sculpture of a poodle’s posterior. It doesn’t light up or play music, but it most certainly will start a conversation. From the same mind that brought us the Buff Humpty Night light, this handcrafted ceramic poodle butt is perfect for those who appreciate a little humor in their home decor. From the J. Schatz Limited Edition Collection, this one answers to Malibu. If a pink poodle butt doesn’t go with your color scheme, consider one of her other-colored friends - Luscious, Cocoa or Snowflake. These whimsical table-top sculptures measure 13″ high by 13″ wide by 10″ long. $525.

What You ‘Must Have’ in the Ultimate Dream Home

Following the spending trends of the wealthy is big business, obviously, and it seems one of the places all their money is going is into filling up their huge homes with loads of pricey decor and expensive gadgets. The rich are looking to make their environments beautiful and comfortable and their lifestyles convenient, and they’ve got the money to do it right. Hand-embroidered sheets from Leron, the Grand Palais Chateau 180 Stove from La Cornue, and a $2.5 million dollar “Bat Cave” vault are just a few of the things many of the super rich feel they simply must have. What’s on your list of luxury “must haves?”

Dell promotes Latitude XT tablet by sawing M200 in half

Filed under:

These days, you better bring your A-game when promoting a product in an already (somewhat) saturated market, and Dell has certainly given it its best shot with a recent Latitude XT promo. The video showcases a gentlemen who is apparently fed up with his M200 and the incomprehensible grief it has caused him, and rather than selling it to another poor sap and waiting it out for Dell’s forthcoming alternative, he takes matters into his own hands. Needless to say, the poor machine didn’t stand a chance against a mighty electrical saw, and while we highly doubt the impending Latitude tablet could either, it’s a comical watch nonetheless. Check it out after the break.

DivX GejBox redubbed Connected, spotted in the wild

Well, would you take a look at this. That interestingly titled GejBox that we peeked last month has seemingly been redubbed DivX Connected, received a slight facelift, and best of all, has been caught in the wild. According to DivX, “Connected is a digital home platform and interoperability standard for networked media devices, PCs and, online services,” and it can supposedly access Stage6, Google Video, and ShoutCast internet radio when not playing back media on any of your networked machines. The boxes are apparently being doled out on a very limited basis and are still marked as beta hardware, but judging by the photos, it features an Ethernet port, built-in WiFi, a USB connector, and a remote to keep you firmly situated on the sofa. You know the drill, check out a few more pics after the jump.

[Thanks, Dave T.]

Standard microphones could detect buried landmines

Filed under:

Sure, there’s already a myriad of methods for detecting and safely clearing out buried landmines, but the current options certainly aren’t easy on the wallet. Thanks to a recent investigation by Georgia Tech, however, commercially available microphones could actually be used “as near-ground sensors for seismic detection of buried landmines,” and if effective, could replace the rather pricey radar-based alternatives most commonly used. Recent trials using microphone data in an experimental model were said to “clearly locate buried inert landmines but exhibit more clutter than images formed with seismic displacement data collected using other techniques,” but the excess noise may be worth the trouble if the cost savings prove significant.

Pierre Hardy Leopard Saddle Bag, Handbag of the Day

Filed under:

I just never get tired of leopard print. I like it in my home and I love it on my bag. This slim shoulder bag from Pierre Hardy goes with just about everything and is sized just right at 17″ wide by 12″ tall. Black patent leather trims the strap, the flap and continues around the bottom of the bag. The very long shoulder strap makes it perfect for carrying across your body when you need to keep your hands free and the simple flap closure can be managed with one hand as well. At $1590, consider it an investment in a bag that will never go out of style.

Eurocom’s quad-core D900C Phantom-X laptop gets official

Filed under:

Good news for those waiting in tense anticipation for a confirmation on Eurocom’s quad-core lappie: it’s for real. Dubbed the D900C Phantom-X, this powerhouse will reportedly pack Intel’s “newest line of quad-core processors,” up to 750GB of internal HDD space, your choice of NVIDIA GPUs running in single or dual SLI, a Blu-ray optical drive, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, and a slew of ports including USB 2.0, FireWire, DVI, S-Video, a multicard reader, optical and analog audio in / out, and a gigabit Ethernet jack for good measure. ‘Course, you’ll also find integrated Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11a/b/g, stereo speakers, a built-in microphone, and an optional TV tuner that could certainly make you question the necessity of your desktop. So, you big spender you, go on and get your order in now and let the bragging commence — if you’ve got the $2,999 it’ll take for the base configuration, that is.

[Thanks, Mark B.]

Inn at Chicago Magnificent Mile Tries To Shed Its Past

Filed under:

The 357-room Inn of Chicago, formerly under management by Best Western, has reopened after a renovation, as an independent boutique hotel. The hotel is now known as the rather cumbersome Inn of Chicago Magnificent Mile. New features include a poshed-up lobby, InnBar lounge, reappointed guest rooms and bathrooms, and the creation of 58 executive guest rooms, There is also Lavazza Café downstairs for coffee and snacks. The hotel’s 1980s-style teal and pink rooms have been given a more muted brown and green color scheme and the bathrooms are now all white and spa-ed out. And there are penthouse rooms with a Queen size bed and bathroom with separate stall shower and sunken tub, and an oversized living room with refrigerator. Rates are low currently, they start at $159 a night. Will this be enough to help out a hotel with a decidedly two-star reputation?
